Jacques Silber received his PhD from the University of Chicago and is a Professor Emeritus of Economics at Bar-Ilan University, Israel. He was the founding Editor of the Journal of Economic Inequality and in 2011-2013 was President of ECINEQ (Society for the Study of Economic Inequality). A specialist of the measurement of income inequality, poverty, and segregation, he is the author of close to two hundred scientific papers published in books and international academic journals. He edited the Handbook on Income Inequality Measurement and several other books and edited special issues of various academic reviews. More recently he edited a Research Handbook on Measuring Poverty and Deprivation which will be published in 2023 by Edward Elgar.
