We are pleased to invite you to participate in the next XXXVI ASEPELT International Congress to be held in Évora , Portugal, from July 5 to July 7, 2023, organized by University of Évora.
The ASEPELT Congress has been for several decades a reference as a meeting place for researchers in the field of Applied Economics. Our aim is to continue along the same lines, offering a forum for debate and discussion that is both enjoyable and committed and that will serve to enrich and disseminate our work.
The central theme of this XXXVI Asepelt International Congress will be Inequality, poverty exclusion and policy implications for a better world – An applied economic approach with a focus for the advancement of applied economics.
The world has become an even more unequal place, where excluded people, wars and natural disasters have increased frictions and uncertainty, reducing life expectancy, economic growth and sustainable development.
ASEPELT approaches economic issues from an applied perspective towards a better world, fairer and more inclusive, fighting inequality and exclusion through the lens of right and adjusted sound economic and applied social policies.
A better world was a theme proposed at OECD in the early 2000s as a tribute to the Nobel Development economist Amartya Sen (1998).
Many have kept this legacy. This is the case of applied economists around the world, facing social unrest, designing welfare policies, tax rebates and general equilibrium models.
We will organize a series of seminars, plenary sessions and round tables where the role of economics in official statistics, in the development of new business opportunities, in financial markets, in economic policy, in international trade, in labor relations, and in other areas of applied economics will be discussed.
